Sonsy has practiced law as an in-house attorney and outside counsel since 2011. Prior to her legal career, Sonsy worked as a scientist for five years in discovery and development of small molecule compounds and large molecules. Her solid technical expertise is a vehicle that carries her in procuring strong patent protections for the clients she serves.

Sonsy has prepared patent applications and obtained patent rights both domestically and throughout the world. Sonsy’s practice expands into about 40 countries and is very familiar with the patent rules and regulations of PCT and non-PCT states.

Sonsy has experience in strategic portfolio development, life-cycle management, due diligence, FDA and EMA regulatory exclusivity, patent term extension, PTE eligibility and related patenting strategies, Orange book listings and related patenting strategies, licensing and counseling.

More specifically, Sonsy has assisted in the development of patent portfolio for CNS, Gastrointestinal disorders, anti-infectives, and oncology products. She has performed due-diligence of multiple assets for pharmaceutical companies and has reviewed and assisted in divestiture of multiple assets. Sonsy has extensive experience in developing patenting strategies for NCEs, APIs, peptides, specialty pharmaceuticals, large molecules, CAR-T therapies, and nutraceuticals.
